TRAMA and ER•TRAMA

Are You Good With People: Kind, Caring, Thoughtful?

Consider the Outreach Program TRAMA:

Training Responsible Adults as Medical Assistants

• 26 weeks
• 30 hours per week

includes Internship and Job Search & Placement

• CPR Certification
• First Aid

• Remediation/Academic Support as Needed

 

ER•TRAMA is available for students needing English as a Second Language or Remediation Classes

Training includes the following skills and services:
  • Entry level keyboarding skills
  • Word processing, spreadsheets, database management
  • Financial literacy and math for Medical Assistants
  • Phone skills
  • Office machines: fax,copy
  • Employability skills: applications, resumes, cover letters, job search and interviewing
  • Patient and Customer Service workshop
Who is Eligible?
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Fluent in English
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Unemployed/dislocated, underemployed workers
  • Students motivated to learn new skills and accept a job
Medical Assistant Courses:
  • Medical Terminology
  • Basic Anatomy
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Cllinical Techniques
  • Medical Office Procedures
  • ICD-9 and CPT Coding
  • Third Party Billing
  • Medical Office Software
  • Health and Well Being

This is a 26 week certificate training program that is designed for adults. An emphasis is placed on those skills needed in a Medical Office environment. Business writing, internet, employment counseling with a focus on time management, problem solving, personal assessment, and decision making, financial literacy as well as communication skills are also important and valuable components of this program.

An internship in a healthcare setting is included. Job search and coaching as well as support services are provided to employee and employer.

RIC Outreach Programs are available to Rhode Island clients of Department of Labor & Training, Rhode Island Works and Office of Rehabilitative Service participants in need of training and employment.
