Internships
Interns are provided at no cost to Rhode Island and Massachusetts employers. Students intern for up to 8 to 12 weeks for a minimum of 120 hours, based upon the employer's needs. This gives our Students the opportunity to apply the skills learned in the classroom in an authentic work environment. If they find the arrangement beneficial employers have the opportunity to hire the students once the internship is completed.
Students are covered by the Board of Governors insurance plan and are not a liability to the employer’s workplace insurance.
Read a glowing recommendation from DCYF about an Outreach Intern:
"Irma Peckham graduated from your Institute and has since been employed by DCYF through her temporary employment agency. She completed her internship through your institute and I have been her immediate supervisor for 5 years. Irma is a competent and valued employee. Ms. Peckham has excellent skills and has obviously been well trained in her field. She is responsible and dependable which are attributes that are beyond value to any employer. I have been very impressed with the training that Ms. Peckham received from your program. It is obvious to me that your training program prepares the interns in all aspects of employment not just the skill training. Ms. Peckham has been instilled with additional traits beyond her skills that have enabled her to work as part of a team and she demonstrates the dedication that is needed to succeed."
